The road has fast traffic but a lot of cyclists esp at weekends, but quite a bit of it has a wide verge which could be used as a cycle-path or shared use facility, so it could be a comparatively low cost to create a safe route.

Generally very very poor links between Nottingham and Radcliffe. The a52 pavement unsuitable: small distance from 70mph traffic and toxic fumes, dangerous crossings at the petrol station and a poor, uneven surface with random curbs.
The slightly more appealing route, national cycle route 15 along Holme lane, is ruined by the lack of any cycling infrastructure (it's a national cycle route!!!) and the dangerous speeds of traffic (especially when it's used as a rat run in the mornings by motorists who think it's faster than the A52 - it's not). There's so much that could be done, and I don't understand why it's not being done. Things that come to mind are restricting Holme lane during rush hour, using the grass on the sides of the road to create cycle lanes, adopting the unadopted sections and resurfacing, speed cameras, segregation.... It could be so much better if the people at the council actually cared. Lets see if they actually do care, let's see if they make any changes in the next few months...

Protected cycle lane needed to ensure that all McDonalds customers get the necessary physical activity in order to restore blood sugar levels back to somewhat normal.

Holme lane is such a rat run for morning commuters. The country lane is not designed for all this traffic, and this is seen by the rapid deterioration of the unadopted section of the road which is in a dismal state. In addition, it is the only route for people on bikes into Nottingham/ west bridgford (the pavement on the side of the a52 is inadequate, no one wants to breathe in all those fumes). All these ratrun motorists have the audacity to overtake cyclists on the single lane parts of the road, putting people in frankly unnecessary danger.
In addition, the 20mph speed limits which were introduced have had ZERO effect. You literally just put like 2 signs up, and expect motorists to abide by it; remember,these are angry commuting motorists we're dealing with, they often are not too fond of 20mph zones. The majority of motorists go at ≈40mph, putting cyclists and pedestrians in danger, they don't even slow down for them.
If the A52 wasn't a thing, then fine, you have a point. But there is the A52, specially designed for your pollutant emitting vehicles, so please end this madness and make this road access only or put time usage restrictions with the proper enforcement necessary.
Also it would be nice if you could adopt the unadopted section and resurface it, or at least resurface 1m from each edge so that you can at least cycle along without getting a puncture smh might actually just move to the netherlands...

Road surface is unbearably and dangerously poor on Shelford road, yet the council year after year are just ignoring it. On a bike, you literally have to swerve around potholes, putting yourself in danger from overtaking traffic.

There will always be the classic argument "but.. but.. where will the poor people park their cars, there's no space if you remove this parking."
That is completely invalid. The vast majority of people who park on the road here are local to the village. If cycling infrastructure was improved, with cycle lanes along main road, Nottingham road, and Shelford road all the way up to the new housing development, I can guarantee that you won't even need that parking. When you put safe infrastructure in, people will realize that a cheap, healthy and environmentally friendly method of travel is right on their doorstep, and you will have successfully improved the air quality, traffic problems, and the health and wellbeing of residents.
If only you people at the council actually thought this way, and made real change...

This really ought to have segregated cycle paths, considering that it's nation cycle route 15. There is plenty of space to do it too, with the large grass verges on the sides of the road, and the relatively wide road. Along with improvements to the rest of the route to Nottingham via Holme pierrepont, an excellent route could be created between Nottingham and Radcliffe on Trent. At current, it is far too dangerous cycling on main road.

There's rather large grass verges on the pavements. With only a little bit of intelligence, these could be removed, the road can be slightly narrowed and made 20mph, and cycle lanes can be installed. This would massively reduce rush hour traffic by encouraging active travel to nearby schools/workplaces, etc etc. You know it's not that hard... I bet you could do it in like a month if you wanted to.. but you won't..

This area was recently redeveloped, yet no bike infrastructure was added.. makes no sense. You're creating more housing which is at a perfect cycling distance (very short by car, slightly long to walk) to Radcliffe town centre, why would you not encourage active travel?

Close Musters Road to through traffic easier making the signed cycle route on Millicent Road safer where it needs to cross Musters Road which is used by a lot of speeding traffic.

Central Avenue should be closed to through traffic at all times (except buses).

Fox and Hound Roads should be stopped up to through motor traffic - used primarily for rat running traffic

Protected cycle lanes needed along Radcliffe Road - it's wide enough for four lanes of traffic despite being marked as two for most of it's length. Should be reduced to one lane each way, a protected cycle lane (linking in with Trent Bridge) and any remaining space for short term parking/loading to neighbouring businesses.

Should become impossible to drive from one end of Musters Road to another - access should be via Loughbourgh Road - very wide and straight road majority of people using it driving at inapproriate speeds.

Needs pedestrian and cycle priority crossing here - difficult to get from the path north of the Dyke to Lyme park at busy times.

Cycling should be permitted along Machins Lane, no reason why it should be possible to drive motor cars up here but not ride bicycles.

Road outside Rushcliffe School should be closed to through motor traffic - either permanently or around school times to allow children to access the school in safety and remove rat running traffic.

No footpath from here to Melton Road. Large parts with no verge. Heavy Trafgic at 60mph on narrow lanes. Pedestrian nightmare...

It is the only bit of main road without a footpath. It would allow walking to local shops/pubs/public transport/GP and open up leisure walking between other rights of way

Even adding a gravel rural-style footpath (no kerb needed) would make this safer for pedestrians

Crossing needed here. Wilford Suspension bridge has become a popular route from West Bridgford to the Embankment, Meadows, and City Centre. Incredibly, the only safe way to cross from Welbeck Rd to Melton Rd currently requires using SIX separate pedestrian crossings. A single crossing from Welbeck Rd to Melton and Patrick Roads would provide a safe through route for walking and cycling.

This is signposted and mapped as a "Sustrans Cycle Route", but is a narrow single carriageway with a 40mph speed limit. I took my children here last week and it was TERRIFYING. Give one lane to walking and cycling, and one lane to vehicles, with passing places.

A cycleway is needed here more without a doubt. I know many families from West Bridgford who would cycle into the city more if there was a cycle way ALONG THE ROUTES THEY KNOW rather than shunted out of their way and into canal paths (that end in a major road juntion)

Stop vehicles entering Mabel Grove from Radcliffe Road as 2-way traffic exposes parked cars to being damaged. This will take parked cars off the pavement.

Stop entering Mabel Grove from Radcliffe Road as it 2-way traffic forces card to park on the pavement.

Install temporary bollards to block motor vehicles from using Adbolton Lane and the (unadopted) Holme Lane as a short cut alternative to the A52. With these bollards in place, the road surface can then be repaired by the landowner to make it safe for commuter cyclists who need to ride between Radcliffe on Trent and Nottingham.

Reduce speed limit on Adbolton Lane between Skylarks and Holme Pierrepont Hall from 40mph to 30mph. Likewise, the speed limit on Regatta Way also needs reducing from 40mph to 30mph.

Create a give-way junction at the intersection of the A60 as it feeds into the southern end of Trent Bridge. Cyclists crossing from Radcliffe Road are unable to safely reach the nearside lane on Trent Bridge as vehicles are not warned of cyclists cutting across them from the right.

The cycle path from Radcliffe-on-Trent to Saxondale Roundabout (A52/A46) is too narrow for two bike to pass.

Road surface at this junction disintegrating - needs surfacing. Also needs a cycle path from Gamston to Cotgrave as the traffic down here drives at dangerous speeds and overtakes on blind crests / double white lines.

This shared use path is far too narrow. A two people passing, whether on bikes or not, will be within 30cm of each other. Meanwhile, cars get a fast 50mph wide road. FIX IT. NOW.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL is too lazy to adopt this road and resurface it. It is in a horrendous state, and is one of the only cycle routes into Nottingham. (And don't get me started on cycling next to 70mph traffic along the a52, breathing in the toxic fumes)
